Between desire and responsibility

Salam n greetings.

I woke up early today. Just in time for the Subuh prayer, much to my surprise. A mug of white coffee and a small bowl of cereal has been part of my morning routine, so today is no different. I had breakfast while watching the rerun of last nite's Australian Open, the semi-final between R.Nadal and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. I had known the outcome: Nadal was beaten by the unseeded Tsonga, but i watched it anyway. I hope Tsonga beats Federer. Watching 'the Fed' uphold cup after cup (after cup) is becoming tiresome. A total pain. Doesnt he know that people are getting bored? Well, at least I am.

Had been watching ten episodes of 30 Rock all week long. Tina Fey is a genius, though sometimes her acting is a bit awkward. But then again, Liz Lemon is an 'awkward and socially retarded' woman. How they came up wif the unforgettable name dat is 'Liz Lemon' is beyond me! It has a nice twist to it, the name Liz Lemon. Tina Fey once said that Alec Baldwin is a brilliant actor, and i concur. The way he utters something completely crazy while maintaining a cool, authoritative composure is an act worthy of a Golden Globe. I found one exchange between Lemon and Donoughey especially funny:

J. DOnoughey: I like that you have started to think like a businessman, Lemon.
L. Lemon: Erm, business-WOMAN...
J. Dnonoughey: Er, I dont think that's a word (dgn gaye yg sungguh poyo)

Nways, Ill start working next week. With a heavy heart. Being an eldest child, i guess responsibility comes first before any of my desires. I plan to start my career elsewhere. To see how i compare with others, to try to live and survive on my own. To challenge myself. To seek new friendships. To pay my own bills. To subscribe my own ASTRO. The word independent sums it all.

"There are many people wanting to work at ur father's company... Why shud u want to work somewhere else?" Mom questioned.

"Ill put ur name in the company's profile." Dad announced.

Now tell me how am i to react to that? So i said nothing and left their bedroom. I had my answer of course, but obviously i didnt hv the heart to say it to them. Dem! Am i a chicken? A coward? I guess I am. BUt am I also ungrateful? Tak bersyukur? Yeap.

So, I said yes without saying. Almost without consent. Perunding MME, here i come! =|

I'll leave it here. Thinking about this makes me crave for a slice of Secret Recipe's cheesecake. Or ais kacang "white lady". Yesterday's ais kacang tasted like melted ice, with cendol and kacang. Yuck.

Taa!

The grass ALWAYS LOOKS greener on the other side... it DOESN'T MEAN IT IS!

i can't tell you, or imagine what you are going through...
but it is always worth to 'try it' your parent's way to begin with.. you MIGHT enjoy it! who knows..
if it doesn't work, then it is always ok to start again elsewhere... sometimes we think we know what we want, but age and experience may alter it....

    i miss you...
all the best in whatever you do.. knowing you.. you will do GREAT!

    love
    ~kakok
